Terms of use
Last updated: 14 October 2026
The short version
- newope is for adults (18+) who are moving to a new city.
- Be kind, be yourself, meet in public places.
- Plans are organised by people like you; you decide which ones to join.
- The paperwork guide and the assistant are a help to get oriented; the official source always has the last word.
1. Who we are
newope is run by Albert Capella Florensa, tax number 21771572W, Carrer de Sardenya 250, 08013 Barcelona, Spain. Contact: team@newope.com. By using the app or the website you accept these terms and the privacy policy.
2. Who can use newope
You must be 18 or older. No password: the app makes your account on your phone the first time you open it (sign-in with Apple or Google is on the way, and we will tell you in the app before it changes anything). One account per person, used by you only.
3. What newope gives you
- A guide for your arrival: the steps, documents and dates of moving to your city.
- Plans with people: a map of plans created by newope and by other people, which you can join or create.
- A community: threads by topic and chats.
- Your journey: a diary, stamps and challenges as you get to know the city.
We improve the app continuously, so features can change. We work to keep it available, and it may pause at times for maintenance or for reasons outside our control.
4. Community rules
What you post is yours and you are responsible for it. When you use newope you agree to:
- Treat everyone with respect. Harassment, hate, threats, sexual or violent content and discrimination have no place here.
- Be who you say you are. Impersonation and fake profiles are out.
- Keep plans social: selling, advertising and recruiting belong elsewhere.
- Share only what is yours to share, and keep other people's private information private.
- Stay within the law of the country you are in.
There is zero tolerance for objectionable content and abusive behaviour. You can report any plan, post, message or person, and block anyone, from inside the app. We review reports within 24 hours and remove the content and the account behind it when these rules are broken.
5. Plans and meeting people
Plans created by members are organised by them: newope shows them and lets you join, and each person takes part under their own responsibility. A few good habits:
- Meet in public places and tell a friend where you are going.
- Take care of your own belongings, transport and expenses.
- If something feels wrong, leave, and report it in the app. In an emergency call 112.
If you host a plan, describe it honestly, turn up, and treat everyone who joins equally.
6. The paperwork guide and the assistant
The arrival guide, the city facts and the answers of the assistant (some written by an AI) are general information to help you get oriented. Rules, prices and deadlines change, and AI answers can contain mistakes: before you decide or pay anything, confirm it with the official source. newope is not a law firm, an immigration adviser or a public office.
7. Your content
You keep the rights to what you post. You give newope permission to store it and show it inside the service to the people it is meant for, for as long as it stays posted. Deleting a post or your account ends that permission.
8. newope Plus
newope is free. If paid extras are offered, the price, what they include and how to cancel are shown before you pay, and purchases made in the app are handled by Apple or Google under their terms. As a consumer in the EU you keep all the rights the law gives you.
9. Our content
The name, the logo, the design, the texts and the drawings of newope belong to us or are used under licence. Photos of places come from Wikimedia Commons under free licences, credited in the app; maps come from OpenStreetMap contributors.
10. Closing an account
You can delete your account at any time in Me → Settings. We may suspend or close an account that breaks these terms or puts other people at risk.
11. Our responsibility
We run newope with care, and we answer for what the law makes us responsible for. Within what the law allows, we are not responsible for what other members do or say, for what happens at plans organised by members, or for decisions taken on the basis of general information in the app. Nothing here limits the rights you have as a consumer.
12. Changes and law
If these terms change in a way that matters, we will tell you in the app before it applies. These terms are governed by Spanish law; as a consumer you can always go to the courts of the place where you live. The European Commission also offers information on resolving consumer disputes out of court.
