Privacy policy
Last updated: 14 October 2026
The short version
- No email, no password: the app makes an anonymous account on your phone the first time you open it. newope never asks for a password.
- newope has no ads and no advertising trackers, and your data is never sold.
- Your paperwork, your shifts and your search history stay on your phone.
- Private messages are end-to-end encrypted.
- In Me → Settings you can download everything newope has about you, or delete your account for good.
1. Who is responsible
newope is run by Albert Capella Florensa, tax number 21771572W, Carrer de Sardenya 250, 08013 Barcelona, Spain ("newope", "we"). For anything about your data, write to team@newope.com.
2. What newope keeps, and where
| What | Examples | Where it lives |
|---|---|---|
| Your account | An anonymous identifier made on your phone the first time you open the app. No email address and no password. Sign-in with Apple or Google is on the way; when it arrives we will tell you in the app, and only then will we receive the identifier (and, if you allow it, the email) they give us. | Our database (EU) |
| Your profile | Name or nickname, photo, city and neighbourhood, interests, what you are looking for, and your age if you choose to show it. | Our database (EU). Other people in the app can see it. |
| What you share | Plans you create or join, posts and their photos, comments, ratings, threads and replies, messages in plan chats, your votes for the next cities. | Our database (EU). Visible to other people in the app. |
| Private messages | One-to-one messages. | Stored encrypted end to end: only you and the other person can read them. |
| Reports and blocks | What you report and why; who you block. | Our database (EU). Reports are read only by moderation. |
| Only on your phone | Your paperwork (status and dates, never document numbers), shifts, diary and places you noted, saved posts, search history, map position, language and look. | Your phone. It is not sent to us. |
| Your location | Used, if you allow it, to centre the map and order results by distance. | Your phone. It is not sent to us. |
| Questions to the assistant | When the app cannot answer by itself, your question, your language, your city and a short page of facts from the app go to an AI. Your name is never sent. | Processed to write the answer; we do not store it. |
| Technical data | IP address, time and type of request. | Our hosting and database providers, to keep the service secure and stop abuse. |
| Waiting list | Your email, if you leave it at newope.com. | Our database (EU). Used only to tell you about the launch. |
3. Why we use it
- To give you the service you asked for: your profile, plans, chats and the community (performance of a contract).
- With your permission: location, camera and photos on your phone, and the waiting-list email (consent, which you can withdraw at any time in your phone's settings or by writing to us).
- To keep newope safe: moderation of reported content, limits against spam and abuse (legitimate interest).
- To meet legal duties when the law requires it.
We do not build advertising profiles and we make no automated decisions with legal effects about you.
4. Who helps us run newope
These providers process data on our behalf, under contract:
- Supabase: database, sign-in and photo storage, in Frankfurt (EU).
- Cloudflare: hosting of the app and the website, protection against attacks, and AI answers.
- Anthropic: AI answers, when that model is in use.
- Google Fonts, OpenFreeMap and Wikimedia: your phone downloads typefaces, map tiles and photos of places from them, so they see your IP address as any website does.
- Apple and Google: if you install the app from their stores, under their own privacy policies.
Some of these providers are based in the United States. Where data leaves the European Economic Area, it is covered by the EU–US Data Privacy Framework or by the European Commission's standard contractual clauses.
We share data with authorities only when the law obliges us.
5. How long we keep it
- Your account and what you shared: until you delete your account. Deleting it removes your profile, plans, posts, photos, comments, threads and messages from our servers.
- Reports: for as long as needed to act on them and to defend against claims.
- Waiting list: until the launch in your city, or earlier if you ask.
- Technical logs: a short time, set by our providers.
6. Your rights
You can access, correct, delete, restrict or object to the use of your data, and take it with you. Two of them are one tap away in the app:
- Download my data: Me → Settings → Privacy & data.
- Delete my account: Me → Settings → Privacy & data.
Today your account lives on the phone where it was made: if you delete the app's data or change phones, it cannot be recovered (sign-in with Apple or Google will make it recoverable). Private messages always stay with the phone where they were written.
For anything else, write to team@newope.com; we answer within one month. You may also complain to your data protection authority: in Spain the AEPD, in Ireland the Data Protection Commission.
7. Age
newope is for adults: you must be 18 or older to use it.
8. Security
Connections are encrypted, each person can only change their own data, private messages are encrypted end to end, and access to the servers is limited and protected. No system is perfect: if something ever affects your data, we will tell you and the authority as the law requires.
9. Cookies and storage on your phone
newope runs without advertising cookies, without analytics and without third-party trackers. That is why you see the app straight away, with no cookie banner.
The app stores on your device only what it needs to work: your session, your language and look, your progress, and what you chose to keep on the phone (paperwork, shifts, searches). You can clear it whenever you like from your browser or phone settings, or by deleting your account.
10. Changes
If this policy changes in a way that matters, we will tell you in the app before it applies. The date at the top always shows the current version.
